Grafton zoning board continues McDonald's variance hearing to May 13 after questions on flooding and wetlands. The Zoning Board of Appeals voted 5-0 on all three of its substantive cases Wednesday: allowing a neighbor-dispute appeal to be withdrawn without prejudice, approving a revised mailbox layout at Fisherville Terrace as an insubstantial plan change, and continuing McDonald's USA's request for parking and landscape-buffer variances at 92 Worcester Street. Attorney Matt Eckel called the site "a unique condition where we comply on the top part of the plan... but not as you move plans south." Property owners Mark and Fran Carrasca told the board an oil company paid more than $200,000 to remediate contamination from a former gas station on the site, which no longer appears on the state's contaminated-sites list.

No date certain was set beyond May 13 for a McDonald's decision.
