Shrewsbury Diversity Panel Sets April 22 Immigration Forum With Three Speakers

SHREWSBURY — April 15, 2026 — Shrewsbury diversity committee finalizes April 22 immigration forum and secures June 27 Pride at the Park pavilion. The committee, meeting April 15 at town hall, confirmed three speakers for its April 22 immigration information forum at the Shrewsbury Public Library: a representative from U.S. Senator Ed Markey's office attending virtually, an immigration attorney who is the spouse of State Senator Moore, and the Worcester-area coordinator from Neighbor to Neighbor. The event, running 6:30 to 8 p.m. and also available via Zoom webinar, was classified as an open public meeting after members recognized that a quorum would be deliberating at a single location. On a separate track, the committee confirmed Dean Park's pavilion for a June 27 Pride at the Park event, with the Worcester AIDS Project and the regional Board of Health signed on as participants. A Welcoming Communities Statement subcommittee reported it has reviewed Shrewsbury Police Department arrest data, immigration policy, and use-of-force documents since 2010, flagging the absence of a "reasonable suspicion" definition as a gap, while a second follow-up to the Town Manager seeking guidance on next steps had also gone unanswered as of meeting night.
