OAKHAM — The Oakham Board of Selectmen unanimously appointed Stephen Ingman to the police department, with his term running through June 30, 2027. Clerk Frederick Gehring led the hiring process, and Ingman, who said "I came from Winchendon to a smaller town," was sworn in immediately after the vote. Matt Broderick, chair of the town's BEST Committee, asked selectmen to support adding up to two members ahead of a state Energy Facilities Siting Board process, with intervener applications due September 8; Chair Michael Brunelle said tracking the project's 45 conditions "was kind of the original intent" for the committee.
The board also authorized posting a custodian vacancy left by Christine Toomey's resignation at roughly $20.35 an hour, and voted to let the town's tree warden remove dead trees near the Center School using the tree warden's budget rather than $15,000 in school stabilization funds.
