CLINTON --

COMMUNITY -- The Select Board, at its Oct. 21 meeting, approved closing a portion of Walnut Street for the Ghosts and Goblins 5K road race and 1-mile fun run, held Saturday, Oct. 24. The event raises money for a scholarship fund named for Raphael Ruiz-Perez, a Clinton High School freshman who died in 2019 at Mossy Pond. Michael Notaro, assistant principal at Clinton Middle School, started the fund in Ruiz-Perez's memory, and board members noted the race has supported it for seven years. The closure was approved on the condition that organizers coordinate with the police department.

HIGH SCHOOL -- Clinton Public Schools' athletics department says winter sports for Clinton High School junior varsity and varsity teams will begin Monday, Nov. 30, with Clinton Middle School winter sports starting Monday, Dec. 7, according to the district's athletics webpage.
