Rutland ZBA Approves Cornerstone Bank Renovation With Four Conditions

Zoning Board · Meeting of June 25, 2026

Rutland's Zoning Board of Appeals cleared three applications and recommended four members in its first meeting since October 2025. The board unanimously approved a special permit modification for Cornerstone Bank's 91 Main Street branch, allowing a facade renovation, conversion from a two-lane drive-through to a single interactive teller machine lane, and site regrading, subject to four conditions including compliance with a Conservation Commission order and relocation of signage near the exit lane. Engineer Rob Lussier of CMG presented the plans on behalf of the bank.

The board also granted a unanimous three-foot setback variance to Nicholas Tadlock of 6 Firmwood Drive for a mudroom and laundry room addition, and approved an amended site plan for a multi-phase development with no net change in impervious surface. The board recommended three members, Jacob Morris, Butch Nato, and Robert Paulson, for reappointment and voted to forward the name of a new alternate candidate, Gary, to the Select Board. Chair Chris Senegal warned that staffing cuts eliminating the board's secretary position on July 1 would likely slow permit processing and could effectively pause board activity until the fall.
