Rauscher Farm Panel Sets $2,000 Mowing Budget

Rauscher Farm Management Sub Committee · Meeting of April 8, 2026

CLINTON — The Rauscher Farm Management Subcommittee set an informal $2,000 cap for hiring a new mowing contractor as it searches for alternatives to longtime mower Sam Bell. The panel voted 6-0 to table its March minutes and heard that a weekend tree-girdling effort, part of its forestry plan, went smoothly. Conservation agent Sierra Harris will be asked which other towns Bell has mowed for, with Acton, Carlisle and Bolton among the leads, and the group wants a contractor committed by August for an October start.

Members also forwarded screenshots of a Facebook algae complaint about Clamshell Pond to the Conservation Commission and a DCR biologist, Joy, who replied within a day. A heavy, leaky donated canoe sitting in the barn for years will be removed, possibly with help from police or the Department of Public Works. The committee meets next May 13.
