Planning Board endorses Shattuck Road split, golf lounge waiver
Planning Board · Meeting of February 23, 2026
Sturbridge Planning Board clears Shattuck Road lot split and a golf simulator lounge for Main Street. The board voted 5-0, with Chair Charles Blanchard, Vice Chair Sue Waters, and members David Bourbeau, Walter Hersee and Taylor Stedman in favor, to endorse a boundary adjustment among four Shattuck Road properties and to waive site plan review for a golf simulator business at 494 Main Street, the former Hog Heaven Hobby Shop. Applicant Mike Placella said the venture will open with three simulators and a beer and wine license, telling the board "we're not going to be serving alcohol, so it'll just be beer and wine." Town Planner Jean M.
Bubon presented both items and gave the board a meeting calendar she said covers "the rest of my tenure," signaling an upcoming departure from the post. Member Brad Goodwin was absent.
