Millbury To Spray for Mosquitoes After West Nile Virus Sample

MILLBURY — The town will conduct emergency mosquito spraying Thursday night near Greenwood Street after a mosquito sample collected in Millbury tested positive for West Nile virus, according to a town announcement.

The Central Mass Mosquito Control Project will carry out its response protocol treatment Thursday, August 27, after 8:30 p.m. in the Greenwood Street area, the town's official News Flash said. The treatment follows confirmation of a West Nile virus positive mosquito sample in Millbury, and residents in the affected area should expect spraying after dark.

SCHOOLS

Millbury Public Schools is directing families to a new state portal for MCAS results. A district message said the state has launched the portal so families can access scores directly, since school districts will no longer mail results going forward. Separately, Raymond E. Shaw Elementary School sent families a reminder that the first day of school is less than 10 days away, pointing parents to updated bus routes for 2026-27 and other back-to-school information posted on the school's web page. The School Committee is scheduled to meet Thursday, August 27.
