Millbury Recruits Volunteer to Fill Conservation Commission Vacancy
MILLBURY — The town is looking to fill a vacancy on the Conservation Commission, and the library's summer reading program is now underway, as Millbury Public Schools rolled out several policy updates ahead of the 2026-27 school year.
TOWN HALL The town is recruiting a volunteer to fill an opening on the Conservation Commission, which oversees protection of Millbury's wetlands, lakes, ponds and streams, according to the town's News Flash page. Residents interested in serving can find application details through the town website's board and committee vacancy listing.
Separately, the town announced a new digital literacy initiative for older adults called GetSetUp, which lets seniors learn technology skills live and on-demand alongside other older adults, per the town's News Flash announcement.
SCHOOLS Millbury Public Schools posted several policy and calendar updates as the district prepares for the 2026-27 year, including an updated cell phone and earbud policy, new student parking guidelines, and an updated attendance policy, according to the district's news page. Raymond E. Shaw Elementary School also notified families of adjusted office hours this week.
The district also told sixth-grade families that thanks to their participation in this June's Nature's Classroom fundraiser, the cost of attending the fall Nature's Classroom trip will drop by $50 per student under updated pricing.
COMMUNITY & ARTS The Millbury Public Library's Summer Reading Program continues through August 8, open to all ages, with participants able to earn prizes and take part in special registered events, according to the library. The library has also begun offering "Digital Navigators" on hand at certain times to help patrons with smartphones, printing and downloading e-books, with classes planned to follow.
The Millbury Farmers Market continued its run at the Asa Waters Mansion on July 16, drawing residents for local vendors and live entertainment, the town's News Flash reported.
