Millbury launches digital literacy program for seniors

MILLBURY — The town is rolling out a new digital-skills resource for older residents, the Conservation Commission is seeking a volunteer to fill a vacant seat, and Millbury Public Schools issued a batch of policy updates ahead of the 2026-27 school year.

The town announced a new program called GetSetUp to help seniors improve their digital literacy, allowing older residents to learn technology skills live and on-demand alongside other older adults, according to the town's News Flash feed.

Separately, the Conservation Commission is looking to fill a vacancy on the board. The town is seeking a resident interested in helping protect Millbury's wetlands, lakes, ponds, and streams to join the commission.

SCHOOLS

Millbury Public Schools notified sixth-grade families that the cost of this fall's Nature's Classroom trip will drop by $50 per student, a reduction the district credited to strong participation in a June fundraiser for the program.

The district also posted several policy updates for the 2026-27 school year, including an updated cellphone and earbud policy, new student parking guidelines, and a revised attendance policy. Details on each were posted to the district's news page but were not further specified in the announcements.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Millbury Public Library's summer reading program is underway for all ages through August 8. Residents who sign up can earn prizes for reading and take part in a series of separately registered special events for children, teens, and adults, according to the library.
