Milford School Committee introduces architects for new high school project

Milford School Committee formally introduced the architectural firm for the new Milford High School and approved more than $800,000 in warrants at its February 5 meeting. Bobby Williams, principal in charge at HMFH Architects, and project manager Stephanie McNeil told the committee that educational visioning sessions led by planner Mike Parolo will begin within weeks, with a feasibility study phase expected to take 16 to 24 months before schematic design begins, and construction itself projected at roughly 30 months after that. HMFH previously designed Woodland Elementary School for the district, and committee members said the firm's work on Arlington High School — which recently received LEED Platinum certification — was a factor in its unanimous selection.

The committee also voted unanimously to declare surplus outdated English learner curriculum materials from 2014, approved a consent agenda that included eight warrants totaling $801,647.39 and professional development expenditures of $8,646, and moved into executive session for collective bargaining discussions with the MTA and AFSCME.
