Milford High School Building Committee approves $1.8 million architect contract with HMFH

Milford's High School Building Committee unanimously approved a $1.8 million design contract with architecture firm HMFH on February 4, formally launching the schematic design phase of the new Milford High School project. Owner's Project Manager James Riesdahl told the committee the fee was negotiated by a seven-member subcommittee — including members Mike Walsh, Chris Wilson, Craig Consigli, Josh Altland, and Joe Calagione, along with Chief Procurement Officer Rick Villani — and fits within a $2.5 million pre-schematic MSBA budget that also sets aside $100,000 for a geothermal test well, $150,000 for early construction manager engagement, and $50,000 in contingency. HMFH principals Bobby Wood and Stephanie Neal presented the firm's approach to phased occupied-site construction, drawing on work at Arlington High School and Cambridge Rindge and Latin School, and outlined plans for community visioning sessions open to students, parents, teachers, and administrators.

The firm, which previously designed Milford's Woodland Elementary School, works exclusively on educational projects and will pursue LEED certification as required for MSBA funding.
