Library Trustees Discuss Study of 54 Walnut St.
Clinton library trustees began mapping a multi-board study of the aging Bigelow library building.
Bigelow Free Public Library Board of Trustees · Meeting of July 28, 2026
Clinton library trustees began mapping a multi-board study of the aging Bigelow library building. The Bigelow Free Public Library Board of Trustees discussed splitting a needed facilities study at 54 Walnut Street into immediate, mid-term and long-term phases, saying the town's facilities department, building committee and possibly the Select Board must be involved. Library Director Marie reported the library is running "about eleven thousand five hundred dollars above our budget," which she attributed mainly to energy costs.
The Friends of the Library donated $5,000 for programs and more than 10 board games. Trustees cited a five-year-old 2021 feasibility study as a possible basis for a Massachusetts Public Library Construction Program grant in the 2028 or 2029 cycle, and expanded the board's advocacy subcommittee to four members, Jake and Jacob joining alongside Marie and Francisco. The board approved its amended June minutes and adjourned at 6:47 p.m., with its next meeting set for August 25.
