Grafton Wins State Grant for Beach Wheelchair at Silver Lake

Grafton has been named one of six New England communities to receive a 2026 SMILE Mass Floating Beach Wheelchair Grant, which will bring a floating beach wheelchair to Silver Lake Beach to improve accessibility for residents with mobility challenges.

The town's News Flash announced that Grafton was selected as one of six New England communities for the SMILE Mass Floating Beach Wheelchair Grant, which will provide a floating beach wheelchair to increase accessibility at Silver Lake Beach.

The Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project will conduct spraying in Grafton on August 6, 13, 20, and 27 in response to resident concerns, though the town noted the dates are tentative and subject to weather.

Governance notes: this week's Planning Board meeting on Monday, July 27, has been revised, the Conservation Commission meeting scheduled for Tuesday, July 28, has been cancelled, and the School Committee's Budget Subcommittee meeting on Thursday, July 30, has been amended, according to the town calendar.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Grafton Public Library's summer reading program, "Plant a Seed — Read!," continues for all ages, alongside the library's participation in the Massachusetts Center for the Book's July 2026 Reading Challenge. The library also holds drop-in cribbage every Friday.

The town's recreation calendar shows the Grafton Farmers Market taking place Wednesday, July 29, on the Common, followed by a Grafton Rec Concert Series performance on the Common Thursday, July 30.
