Webster Finance Committee held a hearing on a $71.6 million fiscal 2027 budget that relies on $1.3 million in free cash and a surprise $3 million jump in state aid. Finance Director Tim Bell supplied revenue figures showing the town controls only about $560,000 of its roughly $72 million revenue stream outright. The town administrator said health insurance alone rose $1 million, consuming the entire new revenue generated through new growth and the 2.5 percent levy cap, and warned that "those days are coming to an end without some additional revenue." Officials estimated an overall 3.17 percent property tax increase.
A school administrator identified as Monique said Webster enrollment grew by 50 students as of October 1 even as statewide enrollment fell by about 15,000. No votes were taken.
