Douglas Oktoberfest Committee Opens 2026 Planning With Vendor Reforms, Personnel Shakeup
DOUGLAS -- March 2, 2026, Douglas Oktoberfest Committee launches 2026 planning with vendor reforms and a key personnel departure. The committee held its kickoff meeting March 2 at Douglas Town Hall, approving minutes from its November session and reviewing a 2025 financial report showing the event finished in the black, with the beer garden, which sold roughly 900 cups of beer, cited as the primary revenue driver. Members agreed to create a separate food-vendor contract form explicitly banning generators and adding trailer dimension limits, and discussed splitting the beer garden into two serving stations to reduce wait times. The committee also voted to pursue an official after-party partnership with the Sokol Hall and to consult town counsel on whether political vendors and demonstrators can be restricted at the event. The member who handles entertainment bookings, MC duties, and contact management announced plans to resign after the October 3, 2026 festival, prompting colleagues to warn that without a proper transition, "Oktoberfest is done."
