Douglas Master Plan Committee Extends Schedule Through September, Adds Three Summer Meetings

DOUGLAS — May 20, 2026 — Douglas Master Plan Committee adds three summer meetings, drops cost column from implementation matrix. The committee voted unanimously to table its April 23 minutes and by consensus scheduled additional meetings on July 15, August 19, and September 16, 2026, after confirming a grant extension through mid-September. CMRPC consultant Sam presented three graphic design options for the final document, with members reaching consensus on a landscape-format, spiral-bound plan featuring chapter-color tabs, full-page maps with separate legends, and photo contest winners as chapter openers. After a lengthy debate over whether to include estimated dollar figures, members agreed by consensus to remove the estimated cost column from the implementation matrix entirely, with planning staff representative John arguing the figures "diminish the value" of the document over time. Review of the economic development chapter and the land use chapter were both deferred to the June 17 meeting, where a full plan draft is also expected to be distributed for committee review at least one week in advance.
