DOUGLAS -- February 19, 2026, Douglas heritage committee maps seven banner zones and advances coin fundraiser for 250th anniversary. The Douglas Heritage and Honor Committee voted unanimously at its February 19 meeting to establish seven street zones for a hometown hero banner program, covering segments of Main Street, Mechanic Street, Depot Street, North Street, Gilboa Street, and Webster Street, with the map now heading to the Select Board for formal approval. The committee also moved toward a fundraising campaign built around a locally crafted brass commemorative challenge coin priced at $15 to $20 each, with a planned total run of 250 and a minimum donation of $50 per coin, though the account currently holds just $1,400. Town Treasurer Jean warned the group to "cut in half" whatever funds it expects to have, citing unknown permitting, police detail, and infrastructure costs. Entertainment vendor decisions, including a photo booth, caricature artist, and DJ, were deferred to the March 19 meeting, pending a March 5 session with Police Chief Miglianico on public safety requirements.
