Douglas Heritage and Honor Committee Confirms Routes, Seeks Participants for Two Parades

DOUGLAS — April 23, 2026 — Douglas Heritage and Honor Committee reports $3,640 raised toward town's 250th anniversary celebration. The committee, meeting Thursday with three members in person and one by phone, confirmed parade routes for the Memorial Day Parade on May 23 and the 250th Independence Day Parade on June 27, both staging at 10 a.m. on West Street near GBI. Ezzie Rodas of Rodas Landscaping attended the meeting and committed to participating with a decorated 20-foot trailer float, also offering a flatbed tractor trailer for use as a mobile stage at Soldiers Field. Confirmed participants include the school marching band, Daughters of the American Revolution, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, five equestrian riders, fire department vehicles, and a unicyclist. A $50 minimum donation earns one of 250 numbered commemorative brass challenge coins; donations are accepted at the shop at 508-476-3926 or through the town's Unipay portal under "250th Celebration." The committee is running entirely on donations with no allocated municipal funds.
