Douglas 250th Parade Committee Sets Lineup, Field Plan Two Weeks Before Celebration
DOUGLAS — June 11, 2026 — Douglas Heritage and Honor Committee advances 250th anniversary parade and field celebration plans with two weeks to go. Meeting Thursday, the committee confirmed a parade lineup placing the Douglas Fire Department at the front, out-of-town fire trucks from as many as six surrounding communities at the rear, and the Blackstone Valley Music Student Orchestra performing from a GBI flatbed trailer in the middle. New additions include a vintage State Police cruiser from the Northbridge State Police Museum, vehicles from Lakeside Masonry and Remodeling, and a veteran marcher David Clark and his wife bringing their decorated beagle. A field walk at Soldiers Field is set for June 20 at 10 a.m. to finalize the vendor layout, which will include three food trucks, a bubble station, cornhole and ring toss games, a small-gauge train ride in the outfield, and an apple pie contest with judging set for 2 p.m. and a sign-up deadline of June 23. The committee divided into a GBI staging crew and a Soldiers Field setup crew, with field setup beginning the afternoon of Friday, June 20.
