Conservation Commission Seeks New Member as Farmers Market Returns July 16

MILLBURY — The town is looking to fill a vacancy on its Conservation Commission, while the Millbury Farmers Market returns to the Asa Waters Mansion next week and a new digital literacy program launches for seniors.

The town's Conservation Commission is seeking a new member to help oversee protection of Millbury's wetlands, lakes, ponds and streams, according to a News Flash post. Residents interested in serving can find application details through the town's board and committee vacancy listings.

Separately, the town announced a new senior program called GetSetUp, aimed at helping older residents improve their digital literacy through live and on-demand classes alongside other older adults, per the News Flash post.

The Millbury Farmers Market continues its season at the Asa Waters Mansion on July 16, with local vendors and live entertainment planned, the town said.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Millbury Public Library's Summer Reading program runs through August 8, open to all ages, with prizes for participants who log their reading and separate registration required for special events tied to the program. The library is also promoting media literacy resources for patrons, including a "Bias and the News" video series on spotting AI-generated fake news and misleading images, part of the NewsGuard Academy series.

The Millbury Public Library's Summer Reading program continues through Saturday, August 8, with ongoing sign-ups for all ages.

On Monday, July 13, the Town Manager Screening Committee and the Board of Fire Engineers are both scheduled to meet; the Planning Board meeting that day has been cancelled.

The Sewer Commission is scheduled to meet Tuesday, July 14.
