Millbury Conservation Commission continues Lake Singletary permit fight amid rare state appeal over lake drawdown. Chairman Ronald Stead's board voted to continue the Notice of Intent hearing to April 1, waiting on a March 23 meeting where the state Department of Environmental Protection will detail its appeal of a drawdown-related order of conditions issued by Sutton. Dominic Meringolo of Solitude Lake Management, representing the Lake Singletary Watershed Association, called it "the first time in 30 years" DEP has appealed such a project and said "this is all about the drawdown." Separately, Conservation Agent Don Flynn told the board a Primrose Lane retaining wall extends 22 feet onto conservation land, sitting just eight to 10 feet from the Massachusetts Turnpike fence, with no building permit on file.

The commission also unanimously approved certificates of compliance for 23 Bayberry Lane and 73 Auburn Road, and heard an early briefing on National Grid's 67-mile, multibillion-dollar transmission line rebuild through Millbury.
