Conservation · Meeting of July 7, 2026

RUTLAND — The Rutland Conservation Commission voted 5-0 to support a conservation restriction allowing the historic Dolan Farm to be sold to a Nipmuc tribal group. Mt. Grace Land Trust's Helen Castles told the commission the farm's Paxton series soils have supported agriculture "since at least 1800" and that the Jordan Dairy Farm would continue operating the fields under the deal.

Chair Melissa Danza's panel, with members Brian Bjorklund, Glenda Williamson, Mary Hunt and Tim Keenan voting, authorized a memo asking the Select Board to sign the restriction. In other votes, the commission issued an Order of Conditions for a new house lot at 199 Glenwood Road, extended an order at 16 Emerald Road three years, and voted to pay $489 in state association dues. Members also agreed to permanently relocate meetings to the Annex Conference Room after losing access to the Rutland Public Library on Tuesday evenings.
