Combined School Committee Approves 3.5% Raise for Superintendent Martineau
NORTHBOROUGH — June 15, 2026 — Northborough-Southborough schools give superintendent top marks and a 3.5% raise. The combined Northborough K-8, Southborough, and Algonquin Regional school committees unanimously approved a cost-of-living increase for Superintendent Greg Martineau at their June 15 combined session, lifting his annual salary from $239,095 to $247,463.33 for the 2026-2027 school year following a vote across all four governance bodies. Regional Chair Jennifer Kermak and Lauren Bailey, union chair for the past year, co-presented a summative evaluation in which all 19 participating committee members rated Martineau exemplary across all four performance standards, with nearly 79 percent rating him exemplary in family and community engagement — the highest single-category score. The session also included a first-look presentation of 2025 Metro West Adolescent Health Survey data showing that while high school substance use and bullying figures are near record lows, 25 percent of middle schoolers at both Malkin and Trottier scored at or above the threshold on a problematic internet use screening scale, and middle school mental health stress indicators have not returned to pre-COVID levels despite improvement at the high school.
