Clinton Select Board Interviews Two Town Administrator Finalists After 21-Application Search

CLINTON — March 31, 2026 — Clinton Select Board interviews two finalists for open town administrator post. The board conducted back-to-back finalist interviews Tuesday evening following a 21-application search process chaired by School Superintendent Dr. Stephen Meyer, whose 10-member screening committee — two nominees from each of the five board members — advanced four candidates to preliminary interviews before recommending three, two of whom accepted. The first finalist, Karen Clark, current town manager of Millbury (population approximately 14,000), described building that town's FY2027 budget without a CFO, negotiating a health insurance increase from a projected 20 percent down to 4.9 percent, and completing every union contract without outside legal counsel. The second finalist, Alex McGee, currently deputy town manager for administration and finance in Andover, cited more than 13 years in Massachusetts municipal finance, MSBA school construction project management experience in Lowell and Arlington, and tax increment financing work he called directly applicable to the challenge of redeveloping the Jabil manufacturing facility. The board was scheduled to continue deliberations at its April 1 meeting; no vote was taken Tuesday.
