Berlin Select Board Votes 2-1 to Offer Town Administrator Job to Framingham COO

BERLIN — July 16, 2026 — Berlin Select Board votes 2-1 to extend conditional town administrator offer to Framingham COO Michael Tusino III. Chair Lisa Weisaki and Vice Chair Carolyn McDonald voted in favor of authorizing Municipal Resources, Inc. to make a conditional offer to Tusino, who has served as chief operating officer for the city of Framingham since 2022 and previously spent 11 years with the town of Grafton; Clerk Peg Stone dissented, saying Tusino "seemed more of a storyteller than specifics" and would not get her vote. The board also interviewed Logan Breeze, assistant town administrator in Shirley, but all three members agreed he lacked the experience for Berlin's current level of complexity, with Weisaki noting she did not think he was "ready to walk into what we are as a community." An MRI representative warned that going back to search would likely not improve the candidate pool, and flagged that interim Town Administrator Jeff's contract runs only through the end of September 2026. The offer is contingent on a satisfactory background investigation by MRI and successful negotiation of appointment terms by the Select Board.
