Berlin Recreation Committee Approves CPA Representative, Plots October Playground Installation

Parks and Recreation · Meeting of July 16, 2026

Berlin Recreation Committee votes unanimously to seat Terry as its Community Preservation Act representative and maps out an October playground installation. The committee heard that the new playground has been ordered with an eight-to-12-week lead time, placing delivery in early October, and that the highway department will demolish the existing structures in mid-September, with Berlin Auto Parts taking the old equipment. Two AEDs recently installed at the town fields cost $1,600 each, paid from the revolving account, with the soccer organization potentially reimbursing a portion.

Committee member Meg announced she will take over the town's boot camp fitness program, proposing to rename it "Berlin Community Fitness," while working to complete her ACE certification and rebuild an equipment inventory through community donations. A CPR certification class is confirmed for August 22 at the 1870 building, 10 a.m. to noon, subsidized in part by the Recreation Committee.
