Berlin Library Board Votes to Restore 33-Hour Weekly Schedule Starting in July

Library Board · Meeting of June 16, 2026

Berlin Library Board unanimously approves new hours schedule restoring 33-week open hours. At the June 16 meeting, Library Director Heather presented a new schedule, effective July, setting library hours at Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Wednesday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., adding one Tuesday evening hour and four Thursday morning hours over the current schedule. "This is 33 hours again," the director said, noting the total matches the library's pre-budget-cut service level.

The board also unanimously approved the FY27 Annual Action Plan, which targets reader's advisory guides, at least one program series per age group, new database subscriptions including a possible return of genealogy resources through the New England Library Consortium, and expanded use of state aid funds to send staff to professional conferences. The director reported the Friends of the Library earned approximately $500 at their June 6 book sale and that the library's expense account is fully spent heading into fiscal year-end.
