Berlin-Boylston School Committee Reviews Strategic Plan, Bids Farewell to Superintendent Gaynham

BERLIN — June 9, 2026 — Berlin-Boylston Regional School District School Committee closed its final regular meeting of the year with a first look at a new five-year strategic plan and a formal farewell to outgoing Superintendent Albert Gaynham Jr. The committee, meeting June 9, heard a full State of the Schools presentation covering 69 graduates headed to institutions including Duke and the University of Edinburgh, 141 AP exams administered, and new multi-year career pathways and business programming planned for Tahanto Regional Middle/High School. Band director Jeff Peer opened public comment with a warning that removing the Boylston Elementary School band from the school day and converting it to a fee-based club would create an "equity" gap — "How can we have one school that has to pay and the other school that doesn't?" — and degrade the district's music pipeline through graduation. The committee voted unanimously to reappoint Robert Galecki as district treasurer, approved the FY27 meeting calendar, and entered executive session to address the resignation of Director of Finance and Operations Aaron Osmond, leaving the district to navigate a superintendent handoff to Dr. Brett Conway on July 13 with interim leadership in its business office.
