Auburn Planning Board Approves Warehouse Addition at 10A Street with Lighting Conditions

AUBURN -- July 14, 2026, Auburn Planning Board conditionally approves a 6,600-square-foot warehouse addition and schedules a rare hybrid special meeting. The board voted unanimously Tuesday to grant site plan approval for Pabco Inc.'s expansion at 10A Street in the town's industrial park, with conditions requiring directional-shielded lighting fixtures and no light spillover exceeding 0.5 foot-candles onto abutting properties; civil engineer Nikita Shagru of Thompson Lon Associates said the project eliminates the site's connection to the town's stormwater system entirely, replacing it with subsurface infiltration chambers. A separate application for a temporary circus event at 385 Southbridge Street was continued to a July 21 special meeting after the board could not muster the four-vote supermajority required for a special permit, with Chair Ronald E. Brooks authorizing a one-time hybrid format, calling it an "emergency" accommodation for the California-based applicant, while making clear the board remains opposed to routine remote meetings. The board also endorsed an Approval Not Required land swap of 1,642 square feet between 30 Boy Street and 11 Alden Street and continued the Stoneville Estates subdivision performance guarantee modification to August 11 pending completion of a covenant draft under legal review.
