Auburn Planning Board Approves Meadowbrook Road Home Daycare, Delays Road Vote

AUBURN — February 25, 2026 — Auburn Planning Board unanimously approves a licensed home daycare at 5 Meadowbrook Road and defers a private road acceptance pending more data from the Department of Public Works. Chair Ronald E. Brooks presided over the February 25 meeting, where Peter and Clara Virtue received site plan approval under Section 2.3.11 of the Auburn Zoning Bylaw for a family daycare serving up to six children, a capacity set by their existing state EEC license. The board granted six site plan waivers covering topography, lighting, landscaping, engineering drawings, and drainage requirements, finding no exterior alterations were proposed. On the road acceptance matter — a referral from the Select Board involving a private road dating to the early 1970s — Brooks said he wanted documentation of core sampling and sewer inspections before any vote, prompting the town planner to agree to seek clarification from DPW ahead of the March 10 meeting, with Town Meeting set for May 7.
