Other Committee · Meeting of August 4, 2026

Auburn Housing Authority reports reserves near 70 percent, tables a revolving-fund vote. A tenant opened public comment alleging retaliation fears and disputing a staff accusation that she made a discriminatory remark, saying "tenants are afraid to put in work orders or complain for the fear of eviction." The board's outside accountant reported the state 400-1 program's operating reserve at roughly 69 percent against a 35 percent state minimum, with an approximately $69,000 surplus, while the federal MA-159 program held nearly $1.2 million in reserve. The board unanimously approved June 2026 statements for the Consolidated, Development and 689-1 programs but continued the revolving fund to September for lack of backup documentation.

Members also discussed a roughly $250,000 grant for a part-time activities director, decades-overdue window and electrical repairs at the elderly development, and the fact that Auburn has had no active tenant organization for at least 19 years.
