Winchendon halts new door-to-door solicitation permits
The town has stopped issuing new solicitation permits, according to a public notice posted Wednesday, while officials continue seeking residents to fill a range of volunteer committee vacancies.
TOWN HALL
Town Hall issued a public notice this week announcing that no new door-to-door solicitation permits are currently being issued, though the notice did not specify a reason or timeline for when the pause might lift. Residents with questions about the policy are directed to contact Town Hall directly.
Separately, the town's July 2026 notice of vacancies remains open, calling for volunteers to serve on various municipal boards and committees. Town Hall has renewed its push in recent postings for civic-minded residents to step forward, though officials continue to note openings remain unfilled, including the previously reported Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School District seat.
Also this week, the town's calendar shows that Thursday's planned Special Board of Selectmen and Joint Meeting Board of Selectmen and School Committee Meeting was canceled, while a separate Board of Selectmen Special Meeting remains scheduled for the same day.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Beals Memorial Library's Summer Reading Club continues this week, with sessions scheduled Thursday and again Friday. The library also has Storytime on the calendar for Friday, and the town's broader events calendar lists a Community Game Night and a CFCE Preschool Playgroup, both set for Thursday.
The town is also continuing sales of its 2026 Toy Town Christmas Keepsake Ornament, a limited-edition item featuring "Clyde" that officials describe as the first in what they hope becomes an annual tradition. The ornament is available online and at Town Hall's Planning & Development Office on Front Street.
