Winchendon Flags Billing Issue Tied to Faulty Water Meters

WINCHENDON — Town officials posted two News Flash notices this week warning residents about a billing problem tied to malfunctioning water meters on their latest water and sewer statements. The alerts landed as early voting for the September primary opened at Town Hall on Monday and runs through Thursday.

The town's News Flash system carried a "Water & Sewer Billing Notice, Malfunctioning Water Meters" alert alongside a follow-up notice titled "Issue on Latest Water Sewer Bill," signaling that some meters are not reading correctly and that recent statements may need review. The town did not specify which accounts or neighborhoods are affected; residents with billing questions can reach the Treasurer/Collector's office, open Monday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Tuesday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Separately, the town announced hours for early voting ahead of the September primary. Early voting runs Monday, Aug. 24, through Thursday, Aug. 27, giving residents a four-day window to cast ballots before the primary.
