Westborough CPA Committee Advances Four Funding Articles Totaling $403,400 to Town Meeting

Westborough's Community Preservation Committee is bringing its first four funding articles, totaling $403,400, to the annual Town Meeting after two years of building the program from the ground up. Co-chairs Jim Ball and O'Neill-Welch told a pre-Town Meeting audience on March 6 that the committee voted unanimously to advance all four proposals: $150,000 for Hastings playground improvements, $127,900 for historic window restoration at the Westborough community access TV building, $100,000 to restore roughly 50 deteriorating headstones at Midland Cemetery, and $25,500 for railing work along steep paths in the Bowman conservation area. Town Meeting will also vote on the fiscal year 2027 budget apportionment, which sets mandatory 10-percent allocations — roughly $52,000 each — to the open space and recreation, historic resources, and community housing categories.

Ball noted the CPA account has already surpassed $1.8 million since the surcharge took effect following voter approval in 2022.
