Town Schedules Road Work, Flags Board Vacancies This Week
ASHBURNHAM — Town officials pressed ahead with routine summer maintenance and an ongoing push to fill vacant board seats this week, while the Stevens Memorial Library continued to promote a newly awarded federal grant aimed at boosting food literacy programming in town.

The Department of Public Works has scheduled road work closures this week, with work on Harris Road completed July 6 and additional work slated for Stowell Road on July 9, according to the town's News Flash. Residents in those areas should expect temporary disruptions.
The town is also reminding residents that Water Conservation measures remain in effect from May 1 through September 30, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to manage the municipal water supply during the warmer months. Separately, the Annual Water Quality Report for 2025 — the town's Consumer Confidence Report on drinking water — is now available for residents to review.
Town officials updated a Notice of Town Board Vacancy on July 1, listing town boards and committees currently seeking volunteers; the listing remains open until the seats are filled. Residents interested in serving can find the full list through the town's website. The Nashoba Associated Boards of Health also announced Town Nurse Hours, with the next visit scheduled for Tuesday, July 21, at 10 a.m., open to any Ashburnham resident.

The Stevens Memorial Library is highlighting its provisional award of a $20,000 federal Library Services and Technology Act grant from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. The grant, titled "At the Table: Food Literacy from the Ground Up," will fund library programs and resources addressing food literacy needs in the Ashburnham community, with Library Director Jess Mynes overseeing the effort as part of the library's role as a community hub.
The library also continues to roll out its FY26-FY29 Strategic Plan, which builds on the previous planning cycle and reflects input gathered from library stakeholders. Additionally, the library has completed its transition from OverDrive to the Libby app for digital lending, and has added Kanopy, a streaming service offering more than 27,000 film and documentary titles, as a new free resource for patrons.
