Town Hall, library trim public hours for new fiscal year

Town Hall, the Town Annex, and the Rutland Free Public Library have all reduced their public hours this month as the new fiscal year begins, changes residents should note before planning visits.

Town Hall and the Town Annex moved to new, reduced hours of operation effective July 1, according to a notice posted on the town's website. The town also flagged changes within its Inspectional Services Department, though specifics were not detailed in the posted announcement. Residents with permitting or inspection needs are directed to check with the department directly for current procedures.

Several town boards have meetings on the calendar this week and next, including a Planning Board Bylaw Sub Committee meeting, a Finance Committee meeting, a Planning Board meeting, and a Select Board public hearing regarding a Class II auto dealer license at 206 Barre-Paxton Road.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Rutland Free Public Library has also cut back its schedule due to budget restrictions, effective July 1. The new hours are Tuesday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday noon to 8 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (with Saturday hours suspended between Memorial Day and Labor Day). The library remains closed Sundays and Mondays.

The library continues to offer its Salty Seniors Book Group, Adult and Kid Happenings programming, a Summer Reading Program, and museum passes, with Library Director Kerry Remington, Assistant Director Tricia Lowe, and Youth Services Librarian Aislinn Lewis on staff.
