Spencer to Begin 2026 Herbicide Applications in Town Waters

SPENCER — The Town of Spencer announced it will begin herbicide applications as part of its 2026 vegetation and water-body management program, one of two public advisories the town posted heading into the week alongside guidance for outdoor workers on wildfire smoke exposure.

TOWN HALL

Spencer officials said the town will initiate herbicide applications in 2026, according to a News Flash posted to the town's official website. The announcement did not detail specific locations, chemicals, or a start date beyond confirming the program is underway.

The town also posted an advisory on protecting outdoor workers from wildfire smoke pollution, encouraging employers and employees who work outside to monitor air quality and take precautions during periods of heavy smoke this summer.

Separately, the town flagged in-person early voting ahead of the September 1, 2026 State Primary, with details on hours and location included in its News Flash.

COMING UP

The Planning Board and the Stiles Lake Water District both meet Tuesday, August 18. The Board of Sewer Commissioners meets Wednesday, August 19.

In-person early voting for the September 1 State Primary runs through Saturday, August 22, which is also the last day to register to vote in that election.
