Southborough Warns Residents Of Permit-Related Email Scam

SOUTHBOROUGH — Town officials issued a warning this week about a scam email targeting residents seeking permits, while a public forum on a proposed two-family dwelling bylaw amendment and a new webinar on spotted lanternflies round out this week's Town Hall news.

TOWN HALL

The town posted an alert about a permit-related email scam, urging residents to be cautious of messages claiming to be from town departments regarding permits and applications. The town did not detail the specific nature of the scam in the alert headline but flagged it as an active concern for residents to watch for, per the town's CivicAlerts postings.

Separately, the town announced a public forum on a proposed amendment to the two-family dwelling bylaw, giving residents a chance to weigh in on potential zoning changes. The latest edition of "Word on Common Street," the town's regular newsletter (Volume 45), was also released this week with updates on town happenings, though most items had already circulated through prior alerts.

The Conservation Commission's summer meeting schedule, adjusted earlier this month, remains in effect, a change the town's News Flash previously covered.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The town is hosting a Spotted Lanternfly Webinar on August 12, giving residents information on identifying and managing the invasive pest as it continues to spread through Massachusetts. Details on registration are available through the town's alerts page.
