Southborough Warns Residents of Permit-Related Email Scam

SOUTHBOROUGH — Town officials this week cautioned residents about a scam involving fraudulent permit-related emails, even as drivers were told to brace for a detour on Flanders Road tied to the ongoing Interstate 495/Interstate 90 interchange improvements project. The Conservation Commission also revised its summer meeting schedule, and the Southborough Scholarship Fund is rallying support for a Polar Park outing later this month.

TOWN HALL Southborough posted an alert warning residents about a scam involving fraudulent emails related to building permits, urging anyone contacted about permit fees or approvals to verify the request directly with the Town House rather than responding to an unsolicited message.

Drivers should plan for a detour on Flanders Road tied to the Interstate 495/Interstate 90 interchange improvements project, with a closure expected around Saturday, July 18.

The Conservation Commission has adjusted its summer meeting schedule, according to a notice posted on the town's website; residents with business before the commission should check the updated dates before planning to attend.

COMMUNITY & ARTS The Southborough Scholarship Fund is organizing a "Town Takeover" outing to Polar Park in Worcester on Wednesday, July 22, at 6:45 p.m., with the town rooting against Northborough, Westborough and defending champion Marlborough. Organizers said $5 from every ticket purchased through the promotion, available via a QR code posted on the town's website, will support the scholarship fund.

COMING UP The Library Board of Trustees, Southborough Housing Authority and Affordable Housing Trust each meet Monday, July 20. The Community Preservation Committee meets Tuesday, July 21, followed by the Municipal Technology Committee on Wednesday, July 22.
