Shrewsbury's Fiscal 2026 Revenue Beats Budget By $2.6 Million
SHREWSBURY — Shrewsbury closed fiscal 2026 with local revenue running $2.6 million above budget, according to a new Patch report, as the town also worked through a hearing on how to honor two longtime local figures and welcomed news of a new grocer headed for Boston Turnpike.

The town's News Flash is urging residents to report sightings of the spotted lanternfly, an invasive pest, to the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources. Communities with known infestations are encouraged to file reports through the state's online portal as MDAR tracks the insect's spread across the region.

Shrewsbury Public Library has added two discussion and education programs to its fall calendar. A community discussion on perimenopause and menopause is set for Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 6:03 p.m., followed by an educational session from the Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 6 p.m. Both are open to the public at the library's Main Street building.
