Shrewsbury Names Members To New Master Plan Steering Committee
Shrewsbury officials named residents to a new Master Plan Steering Committee this week, setting up the panel that will guide the town's growth priorities in the years ahead, while a new three-way stop is coming to a busy intersection and local students spent the summer interning for a state lawmaker.
TOWN HALL
Officials have appointed committee members to the newly formed Master Plan Steering Committee, along with several other town appointments, a move that will shape how Shrewsbury prioritizes growth and development projects going forward. Separately, the Select Board has moved ahead with plans for a new three-way stop at the intersection of Harrington Avenue and Old Mill Road, aimed at improving safety in that neighborhood.
The Senior Center is also seeking volunteers for its small home repair program, which helps older residents with tasks like installing grab bars and replacing smoke detector batteries so they can safely remain in their homes.
Town health officials issued a public health advisory elevating precautions against West Nile virus, including targeted mosquito spray nights and a free education session planned at the Shrewsbury Public Library in September.
SCHOOLS
Students from Shrewsbury and Westborough spent the summer gaining hands-on government experience as interns for state Rep. Hannah Kane at the State House, an opportunity local officials have highlighted as a window into public service for area youth.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Shrewsbury Public Library is planning a free education session in September tied to the town's elevated West Nile virus precautions, giving residents a chance to learn more about mosquito safety directly from health officials.
