Shrewsbury Form of Government Committee Sets Department Interview Questions for May

SHREWSBURY — May 4, 2026 — Shrewsbury's Form of Government Study Committee finalized a list of six baseline interview questions for town department heads at its May 4 meeting. The committee, which is examining whether Shrewsbury should alter its town-meeting-based government structure, also expanded its interview scope to include public safety departments and school administration after members argued those departments' experiences with government structure are relevant even if their internal hierarchies are unlikely to change. New member Brian Costello, appointed by the Select Board last week and absent due to a work trip, was informally tapped to help cover police and fire interviews. The six questions ask department heads whether the form of government has affected their operations, what efficiencies or inefficiencies they observe, how their experience compares to peers in other communities, and whether the current structure works for them. The first interview session, covering DPW Director Tim McInerney and his department heads, is set for May 11. Andover Town Manager Andrew is scheduled to address the committee at its June 1 meeting.
