Mendon Select Board appoints two officers and two Parks Commissioners in a packed meeting. Police Chief Kersey introduced Joseph Thompson, a returning officer rehired at step four for $1,448.75 a week, and a second hire, Harrison, whose surname was given as Quarteroni, at step one for $1,193.47 a week. Sitting jointly with the Parks Commission, the board appointed Linda Thompson and Steve Obitt to fill vacancies left by resignations, with a third seat to be decided by voters in May.
The board also accepted $5,375 in food pantry donations and approved a revised contract for Town Administrator Jeremy extending his severance and notice period to six months. A proposal from the Adventure Cycling Association to designate local roads as part of U.S. Bicycle Route 1 was held pending legal review, with a representative telling the board, "we are not aware of a single legal action" tied to the 24,000-mile national route network.
