School Committee · Meeting of April 27, 2026

NORTH BROOKFIELD — The North Brookfield School Committee approved continuing school choice enrollment for 2026-27 and a revised Washington, D.C., trip for grades seven through 12 in spring 2027. Superintendent Tim McCormick said the district's FY27 budget requires no personnel or program cuts under 100 percent net school spending. He also reported the district's NEST special education program, which has grown from one student to three, could bring in up to $130,000 by accepting three to four students from neighboring districts at $40,000 to $45,000 per seat, offsetting costs tied to out-of-district placements that can run about $100,000 per student.

McCormick shared early themes from six staff listening sessions, covering course offerings, career partnerships and scheduling. The committee tabled a vote on a revised restraint policy to May and thanked a longtime member leaving after six years, including time as chair and vice chair.
