Rutland Town Hall and Library Both Cut Hours Starting July 1
Rutland residents will have fewer hours to conduct in-person town business starting Tuesday, July 1, when both Town Hall and the Town Annex shift to reduced hours of operation — a change announced Monday by the town and mirrored by a parallel cutback at the Rutland Free Public Library.
TOWN HALL
Town Hall and the Town Annex will begin operating on a reduced schedule beginning July 1, according to a News Flash posted to the town's official website Monday. The announcement did not specify the new hours in detail but directed residents to review the full notice at the town's civic alerts page (https://www.rutlandma.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?aid=259). Residents with time-sensitive permit, licensing, or administrative needs are advised to plan ahead before the new schedule takes effect.
The town homepage also flags several other standing items residents should be aware of this week: changes within the Inspectional Services Department, a call for volunteers to join a new ADA Commission, and official information about this year's Fourth of July festivities and a pancake breakfast associated with the holiday.
The Bylaw Committee is scheduled to meet Tuesday, June 30.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Rutland Free Public Library is also trimming its public hours beginning July 1, citing budget restrictions. Under the new schedule, the library at 280 Main Street will be open Tuesdays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesdays 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursdays noon to 8 p.m., Fridays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. That represents reductions across nearly every open day compared to the current schedule. Library Director Kerry Remington can be reached at kerry@rutlandlibrary.org for questions. The library's phone number is 508-886-4108.
