Rutland Cuts Town Hall and Library Hours Beginning July 1
Two pillars of Rutland civic life — Town Hall and the Rutland Free Public Library — will both operate on trimmed schedules beginning July 1, giving residents less time to access in-person services as the second half of the year gets underway.
TOWN HALL
Starting Wednesday, Town Hall and the Town Annex will operate under reduced hours of operation. The town announced the change June 29 via its official News Flash, directing residents to review the new schedule before making plans to visit either facility. Separately, the town's homepage flagged ongoing changes within the Inspectional Services Department, asking residents to take note before submitting permit-related requests. Residents who use the ViewPoint permitting system online may be able to handle some business without an in-person visit during the transition.
The town also reminded residents that a 4th of July Pancake Breakfast is coming up this Saturday — a community tradition for those looking to kick off Independence Day weekend early.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Rutland Free Public Library is also tightening its schedule beginning July 1, citing budget restrictions. Under the new hours, the library will be open Tuesday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday noon to 8 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. That represents a reduction from the previous schedule, which ran Tuesday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with Saturdays closed between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Library Director Kerry Remington and her staff are reachable at 508-886-4108 or through the library's website at rutlandlibrary.org for questions about services and programs.
