Rutland Cuts Town Hall and Library Hours Beginning July 1
DATELINE — RUTLAND
With July 1 just days away, Rutland residents face two concrete changes to their civic routine: trimmed hours at both Town Hall and the Rutland Free Public Library, arriving just as the town prepares for its Fourth of July festivities.
TOWN HALL
Starting July 1, Town Hall and the Town Annex will operate on reduced hours. The town has posted the change on its website and encouraged residents to plan ahead for any in-person business.
The town also posted an official statement regarding this year's Fourth of July festivities, and separately announced a pancake breakfast to kick off the holiday. Residents seeking details on either event are directed to the town's News & Announcements page at townofrutland.org.
The town is also seeking volunteers to serve on a newly formed ADA Commission. Residents interested in joining are encouraged to check the town website for details on how to apply.
A separate notice flags changes within the Inspectional Services Department, though specifics were not detailed in the public announcement. Residents with pending permits or inspections should contact the department directly.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Rutland Free Public Library is moving to a new schedule beginning July 1, driven by budget constraints. Under the new hours, the library will be open Tuesday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday noon to 8 p.m., and Friday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday hours will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. — a reduction from the previous 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday window. The library remains closed Sundays and Mondays. Residents can reach Library Director Kerry Remington at kerry@rutlandlibrary.org or by calling 508-886-4108.
