Rutland Crews Begin Street Repaving Work Townwide

RUTLAND — Crews have begun repaving work on streets around town, the town announced this week, as Town Hall and the Rutland Free Public Library both roll out revised operating hours.

TOWN HALL The town's official News Flash said Monday that repaving work has begun on several streets, though the alert did not specify which roads are affected; residents can check the town website for the full list. Separately, Town Hall and the Town Annex have posted new hours of operation, according to a notice on the town's homepage, though the notice did not detail the specific new schedule.

COMMUNITY & ARTS The Rutland Free Public Library has reduced its hours of operation effective July 1, citing budget restrictions. Under the new schedule, the library is open Tuesday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday noon to 8 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with Saturday hours suspended between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Library Director Kerry Remington oversees the branch at 280 Main St.

COMING UP The Events Committee meets Friday, July 17. The Select Board holds a public hearing Monday, July 20, on a Class II Auto Dealer license for 206 Barre-Paxton Road, followed the same evening by a joint Events Committee/Select Board meeting and the Select Board's regular meeting.
