Parks Commission · Meeting of June 8, 2026

MENDON — The Mendon Parks Commission elected Linda Thompson as chairperson and approved $10,000 for the first phase of a new security camera system. Steven P. Aubut was appointed the commission's representative to the Community Preservation Committee, replacing Parks and Recreation Director Dan Byer, who left the commission after Joanne Lamothe's May election. The full camera project was quoted at $36,000 for a 32-channel system; commissioners split it into two $10,000 phases to avoid a formal bid, covering the Millville lot entrance, fields, bathrooms and the pavilion first.

The commission also voted to keep basketball and tennis court lights on low power from sunset to 10 p.m. from May through November, at a cost described in the minutes as "around $170." Swim lessons and the USTA-run Tennis in the Parks program will again charge $80 for residents and $95 for non-residents this summer. The revolving parks fund stood at $300,000, though more than $100,000 is earmarked for camp payroll.
